Train your AI assistant
Teach the AI about your business with your website pages, FAQs and other text.
Updated Sep 24, 2026
Pingu's AI answers visitors using the knowledge you give it. The better that knowledge, the better the answers. Each widget has its own knowledge base.
Where to find it
- In the dashboard, open Widget Manager and select your widget.
- Go to the Knowledge step.
The AI Assistant must be turned on in the AI Config step for the widget to use its knowledge base.
1. Name your knowledge base
Enter a Knowledge Base Name your team will recognize, for example "Product Documentation" or "Support FAQs". Use the optional Description for internal notes, such as when the content was last updated.
2. Import your website (Slot 1)
Website Scraper reads the pages on your site and turns them into knowledge.
- Enter your website address and select Fetch Pages.
- Pingu's AI looks through your pages and selects the useful ones, leaving out legal pages, duplicates and blog posts. Use Select Recommended, Select All or Clear to change the selection.
- Missing a page? Add it under Add Custom Link.
- Select Import Selected Pages.
The imported text appears in the editor below, where you can read and edit it.
3. Add extra knowledge (Slot 2)
Use Additional Knowledge for anything that isn't on your website, for example:
- Frequently asked questions and their answers
- Prices, opening hours and delivery details
- Return, refund and booking policies
- Product details and specifications
Type or paste the text, or select Import TXT to upload a .txt file. Give it a file name, such as faq-content.txt.
4. Save
Select Save & Continue. Pingu updates the AI with your new knowledge, and the widget starts using it straight away.
Tips for better answers
- Write it the way customers ask. Phrase FAQs as real questions: "How long does delivery take?"
- Be specific. Include exact prices, times, addresses and links.
- Keep it current. When something changes, update the knowledge base so the AI doesn't give old information.
- Test it. Open your website, ask the questions your customers ask, and add whatever the AI gets wrong or doesn't know.
Delete a knowledge base
In the Knowledge step, select Delete Knowledge Base. This permanently removes all knowledge files and turns off the AI for that widget. It can't be undone.
Common issues
"Unable to retrieve website content." Your site must be publicly reachable and have a valid sitemap. If it doesn't, paste your content into Additional Knowledge instead.
The AI answers incorrectly. Check what the knowledge base says about that topic. Correct or add the information, save, and ask again.
Need a private knowledge base for your staff? Use Internal AI.
