AI Voice Agent
Let website visitors talk to your AI assistant by voice instead of typing.
Updated Sep 19, 2026
The AI Voice Agent lets your website visitors talk to your AI assistant instead of typing. They speak naturally and get answers from the same assistant and knowledge base as your chat.
Display modes
You choose how Pingu appears on your website:
| Mode | What visitors get |
|---|---|
| Chat Screen Only | The standard text chat. Voice is turned off. |
| Voice Agent Only | A full voice conversation with the AI. |
| Chat + Voice Agent | Both, and visitors can switch between typing and speaking at any time. |
Set up the Voice Agent
- Log in to the dashboard, open Widgets, and select AI Voice Agent.
- Choose the chat widget you want to configure.
- Select a display mode: Chat Screen Only, Voice Agent Only, or Chat + Voice Agent.
- If you chose a mode with voice, go to Voice Agent Avatar Style and pick the avatar that best fits your brand. It becomes the face of your Voice Agent.
- Select Save Configuration.
The settings apply to the selected widget straight away.
How visitors use it
- They open the Pingu chat on your website.
- They start the Voice Agent and speak instead of typing, for example "What services do you offer?" or "What time are you open?"
- Pingu understands the question and answers by voice.
With Chat + Voice Agent, visitors can move between text and voice whenever they like.
Visitors need to allow microphone access in their browser the first time they use voice.
Common issues
Visitors don't see a voice option. Check that the widget's display mode is Voice Agent Only or Chat + Voice Agent, and that you saved the configuration.
Voice doesn't start. The browser may have blocked the microphone. Ask the visitor to allow microphone access for your website in the browser's address bar and try again.
