WordPress plugin

Add Pingu to your WordPress site with the Pingu Live Chat plugin, no code needed.

Updated Sep 15, 2026

The Pingu Live Chat plugin adds the Pingu chat widget to your WordPress site without editing any code. You can create your account, start a free trial and connect a widget, all from your WordPress admin.

What the plugin does

  • Adds the Pingu chat widget to every page of your site.
  • Lets you log in, or register for a free trial or with an invite key, from inside WordPress.
  • Lists your Pingu widgets so you can connect one with a single click.
  • Finds old, manually pasted Pingu code and helps you remove it, so the widget doesn't load twice.
  • Works with popular caching plugins.
  • Opens your Pingu dashboard with one click, already logged in.

Requirements

  • WordPress 5.8 or later
  • PHP 7.4 or later
  • An administrator account on your WordPress site

Install the plugin

  1. In your WordPress admin, go to Plugins → Add New Plugin.
  2. Search for Pingu Live Chat.
  3. Select Install Now, then Activate.

You can also download it from wordpress.org/plugins/pingu-live-chat and upload it under Plugins → Add New Plugin → Upload Plugin.

Connect your Pingu account

  1. Open Pingu Chat in the WordPress admin sidebar.
  2. On the welcome screen, choose:
    • Login if you already have a Pingu account, or
    • Register to start a free trial or use an invite key.
  3. Pick the widget you want to show on this site from your widget list.

The widget is now live on your site. Open your website in a private browser window to check that the chat bubble appears.

If the plugin finds Pingu code you pasted into your theme earlier, it offers to clean it up. Accept, so the widget only loads once.

Manage your widget

The Pingu Chat page shows the connected widget. From there you can jump straight to the Pingu dashboard to change how it looks, train the AI, or read conversations.

Everything else, like knowledge, add-ons and billing, is managed in the dashboard or the mobile app.

Remove the widget

Deactivate or delete the Pingu Live Chat plugin under Plugins. The chat disappears from your site. Your Pingu account and conversations stay as they are.

Common issues

The chat doesn't appear after connecting. Clear your caching plugin's cache and any CDN cache, then reload your site in a private window. See The chat widget doesn't show on my website.

The chat appears twice. Old Pingu code is still in your theme or another plugin. Remove it, or use the plugin's cleanup option.
